Design Introduce
Icelandic Botantopia proposes an enticing greenhouse restaurant through the articulation of Icelandic landscape. Taking inspiration from the floral behaviors, geological richness and cultural products, it celebrates and prototypes the vernacular greenhouse adjacent to Mývatn nature baths and hverfjall volcano, which replicates the images of wildflowers, rocks and Iceland, allowing us to appreciate national pride. Through embracing the geological and typological elements, Icelandic Botantopia will become the new “national flower”.

Design Introduce
A volcanic island covered in snow and ice, Iceland is a stunningly beautiful country, but not the easiest place on Earth to find locally grown foods. Fortunately, Iceland has a rich source of geothermal energy for the design of greenhouse restaurants. We are tasked with creating a concept for a restaurant that combines organic, indoor farming with a uniquely Icelandic aesthetic. The design is centred on a geothermal system that ties the spaces together. Design will provide practical solutions, incorporating year-round, indoor farming concepts with a comfortable space to seat roughly 100 guests, all with views of the milky blue Mývatn nature baths on one side and Hverfjall volcano on the other.
