Overview
From the student era to the firm’s designers, architects, project planning. From the student era to the famous university teachers and design method researchers, from the domestic comprehensive colleges to the top design schools in Europe, in the architecture and design industry, I have tasted this decade is the best decade of life.
Many students have a bachelor’s degree in five or four years, and you have mastered the basic preliminary design or expansion capabilities and methods. A preliminary understanding of the history of architectural design, the choice and the gradual construction of their own values. If you already have these, then congratulations, you are taking the right path. Then there are some students looking for, and also swearing, is my art repair not enough? Is my design method not enough? Is my practical experience insufficient? …. These similar problems have been repeatedly mentioned by countless students over the past few years.
In the past professors, we realized that students lacked the ability to develop and evolve in the preliminary design of the project, and the lack of creativity. All of this stems from the differences in the teaching system between the domestic and international architectural space art disciplines. Then, after the establishment of the spatial vocabulary teaching system, the students flexibly used the “space vocabulary dictionary” in the preliminary design process, and the thinking was separated from the solidified or random words;
The design research design research system includes eight kinds of design thinking, and provides students with the most systematic knowledge and perspective of thinking divergence from a macro perspective. The combination of design research methods and spatial verbs, the results of the design can withstand rational scrutiny and market test, especially the core value of the soul in the production of the collection. This point has given a very positive assessment of the system, both during the student and working hours.
Lesson 1 Definition of design research
The definition of design research differs significantly from the most research into design to research through design to research for design. The system was first proposed by the Royal College of Art (RCA) 25 years ago, followed by the Aalto University School of Design. Developed in conjunction with it, a design system in eight directions was created. With the advancement of the era of big data and the commonality of information, as the architectural design of traditional industries, how interior design and furniture design go to the future, we will reflect on the specific methodology of design research.
Lesson 2 Design research design and research eight systems (Ⅰ)
This lecture includes design management design management system, Design Ethnography ethnographic research direction and design history of design Historiography design. Analyze the logical combing at the beginning of a building or other project, the scientific approach to process management, and the perspective of the project from a historical perspective. These three research systems are often applied to pre-study and analysis in the mapping of portfolio production.
Lesson 3 Design research design and research eight systems (Ⅱ)
This lecture includes MaterialsResearch material design research direction, Practice-led methodolody practical orientation design research direction. Specifically, it aims to analyze the process between the specific design of the project and the design output. The method of material design research was early involved in the planning stage of architecture or space design, which led to the best maturity of the building, which was conducive to construction, development and budget. Practice-oriented design research is often used by the program team at the beginning, and it is repeatedly used in the initial stage of the design, expansion, deepening, node, and review. These two research systems can often be applied to the deepening of the portfolio during the mapping of the production of the portfolio.
Lesson 4 design research design and research eight systems (Ⅲ)
This lecture includes Design research as conceptual designing, empathic design, and SusDesign sustainable design research. In the process of real project construction, it is often filled with the discussion of structural designers and solution designers. How to integrate the construction system with the design system perfectly becomes a systematic discussion. The starting point of empathy design and sustainable design ranges from micro to macro. From the perspective of individual to group, a set of reference reflection system is constructed for the solution designer. These two research systems are often applied to the portfolio drawing, node scrutiny and structure-assisted links in the mapping of portfolio production.
Lesson 5 Spatial Verbs and Conversation Dictionary
The spatial verbs dictionary is based on the theory of Richard Serra. We try to construct a systematic organization verb, through the quantification operation, reasonably explain how a building space mass is formed by pushing down. Starting from the basic three systems, it is similar to add addition, displacement replacement and subtraction subtraction, and the composite body is obtained by repeating and cross-using each other. The goal of this lecture is to introduce the concept of “verbs” in the basic teaching of architectural design, thereby establishing a special perspective of cutting into the ontology of the building, and at the same time constructing a thinking mode that students are interesting and challenging to create.
Lesson 6 Design research design and research eight systems + space verbs application (Ⅰ)
This theory is used to extend the theory of spatial verbs, combined with the research direction of Materials Research in lesson 3, and the practical application of Practice-led methodolody. From the understanding of the architectural space and the two-way construction of the building skin, deepen the application of students in design research and spatial verbs
Lesson 7 Design research design and research eight systems + space verbs application (Ⅱ)
This lecture is also a continuation of the theory of spatial verbs, combined with the research direction of lesson 4 in design-oriented design, the empathic design and the sustainable design of SusDesign. Architects combine the location of space structures, the way in which Party A or partners collaborate, and innovative spatial sustainability research.
Lesson 8 design research and spatial vocabulary in the portfolio application
After the intensive training of the previous 7 lessons, the students are guided to reflect the content of the analysis in the portfolio through specific diagrams and layout controls. Explain to students the most direct and powerful cases (the actual case of the Tienstiens French dessert shop, the bird watching station in Rhodesborg, the case of the Stockholm Furniture Fair and the architectural planning case of Moganshan B&B).
