Abstract

The project presents a method to quantify social media data related to building use, determining the multiple functions of a building at different time based on spatial demand data and proximity to residents.

Clustering intelligence determines the architectural function of public spaces from the bottom up to activate communities at different time.

In the case of the town of Varedo, a range of social activities such as people using the abandoned grounds of the historic building to watch films; as a temporary food market; to view exhibitions in the villa; and to paint and play sports , Social Events are quantified and used as data to support the transformation of the function of public space.
